Electrical Machine Design (EMD) Research Laboratory comprehensively specialize in designing various electrical equipment such as transformers, induction machines, synchronous motor/generators, DC motor, stepper motor, linear motor etc for desired specification, operating performance, parameters and economical limitation. The EMD research group was originally set up in 2012 by a small group of researchers who looked at the importance of research on electric machine design to support the optimum electrical drive system for various applications in human life. In the same year, a research lab with only 5 units of computer systems equipped with FEA software was created with the support of UTeM's top management. The first phase pf the research began with the success of obtaining internal research grants (PJP and COE) and the success of national grants (MTUN and FRGS). Starting with 3 primary researchers and 5 postgraduate students, the EMD research group has grown in terms of increasing number of primary researchers and an increasing number of active postgraduate students. Facility development in this research group's lab is built on the cooperation of key researchers in obtaining internal and national grants.
