EPS IEEE Senior Members

Currently, the Energy and Power Systems Research Group has three IEEE Senior Members. They are; Assoc Prof. Ir. Dr. Gan Chin Kim, Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahril bin Ahmad Khiar and Dr. Kyairul Azmi bin Baharin. Dr. Mohd Shahril and Dr. Kyairul Azmi are the most recent recipients of this grade elevation. They received this recognition on 17 August 2021. IEEE Senior Membership is the highest grade of membership that can be applied by the members themselves, with three references from current IEEE members holding the grade of Fellow, Senior Member, or Honorary Member to support the applicant's eligibility. The application is then reviewed by an appointed internal committee. The grade elevation is awarded to those who have been in professional practice for at least ten (10) years with evidence of significant performance over a period of at least five (5) those years.

MyHVnet 2021 & 2020

It is a great pleasure for the Energy & Power System (EPS) research group to have three of their members as among the committee of the Malaysia High Voltage Network (MyHVnet) for 2021 and 2022. The newly elected MyHVnet Committee members are from various universities and industries across Malaysia to share current advanced knowledge and information in high voltage research areas and related matters. The complete list of MyHVnet Committee for 2021-2022 with their specific task is listed as follows:

The IEEE Malaysia Section Professional Activities and Industry Relations (PAIR) Activities Fund 2021

Hearties Congratulations to Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahril Ahmad Khiar on receiving the IEEE Malaysia Section Professional Activities and Industry Relations (PAIR) Activities Fund 2021 organized by Professional Activities & Industry Relations (PAIR) Committee of IEEE Malaysia Section. In total, 4 proposals were received from the Subsections, Chapters, Councils and Affinity Groups under IEEE Malaysia Section. Interestingly, Shahril is among 2 of the recipients for this year. The objective of this activity is to organize Industry-Academia Activities to enhance the Industry-Academia engagement and promote healthy collaborations and interactions between the two sectors.

MEGGER CERTIFIED ADVANCED TRANSFORMER DIAGNOSTICS

The Megger Certified Advanced Transformer Diagnostics Online workshop was held on 18th August 2021. This workshop was organized by Megger in partnership with CETM Electrotest Sdn. Bhd. FRAX and IDAX are the two latest products from Megger that are usable for the Sweep Frequency Response analysis and DFR. A detailed explanation of these latest products was presented to the participants of the workshop. Ir. Dr. Norazhar Abu Bakar, Ir. Dr. Sharin Ab Ghani and Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahril Ahmad Khiar are EPS members who were successfully passed the test and being certified as Advanced Transformer Diagnostics.
